What does it mean
To suffer for you?
Is it just to go through
A hard thing or two?
Is it to have
Grief and overwhelm
Just to give it all to you
Our wrath withheld?
Or does it
Mean something more,
That we will share
The cross you bore?
Or does it mean
The simple sinners prayer we prayed
Will be the thing
That takes us away?
Following the Lord
Is more than a prayer.
It is a declaration of loyalty
No matter the fare
The cost is great
But worth it in the end
To be with Jesus
My best friend.
I’ll declare His name
Until my last breath
Whether it comes
During a test.
I’ll give up comfort
To live a crucified life
Just like my Lord
Jesus Christ.
He gave His life
And I’ll gladly give mine
In order to one day
Sit by His side.
So Lord lead me
In all that I do
So that I always
Bring glory to you.
